Visitors to the Kimberley centre of Broome in Western Australia will soon be able to experience the first new luxury hotel resort in the region since the opening of the Cable Beach Club nearly 20 years ago.

Pinctada Cable Beach, the 71 room resort and spa, opened 12 May 2009, is the latest addition to the Pinctada Hotels & Resorts portfolio owned by Marilynne Paspaley AM, a member of the Paspaley family who have been master pearlers in the Kimberley since 1935.

In keeping with her pearling heritage, Marilynne Paspaley already owns two historic master pearlers’ residences in the centre of Broome, McAlpine House and Captain Kennedy House, both built in the early 1900s, when the town was commonly known as the "port of pearls". Both properties provide unique tourist accommodation, McAlpine House as an 8 room boutique retreat and Captain Kennedy House as a luxury villa.

The new Pinctada Cable Beach – situated only five minutes walk along a dedicated path through the dunes to Cable Beach – harmonises with the semi-arid climate of the region, its minimalist design well executed by craftsman builders and employing a mix of new and recycled materials.

The resort’s design in part reflects the style of the old pearler’s homes, with four Master Pearler suites the centrepiece of a total complement of 71 studios and suites - each distinctive in its fitout, furnishing and décor – including original artworks. Much of this is the result of Paspaley’s own eclectic taste, in keeping with the strong indigenous presence in the region and, of course, Broome’s and her own heritage. All furnishings are hand-picked and the majority are especially made for the project.

Their Shinju studio rooms are named after the Japanese word for "Pearl". You will find them spacious and beautifully appointed. There are 3 levels of Shinju Studio.

HONJIN SUITES & STUDIOS

"Most Honoured Guest" is the translation for their Honjin Courtyard suites and studios. This collection of rooms are formed around a stunning central courtyard and shared plunge pool. Perfect for those requiring a greater level of privacy and space. Both the Honjin Courtyard Suites and Studios can interconnect and form a 2 bedroom suite. Both Honjin suites and studios receive the services of their attentive valet staff.
